One of the core values of Men's Shed Vernon is to make our facility and experience accessible to all men. In a financial sense, that defies the whole concept of sustainability.
Our membership fees make up about a quarter of our expense budget. Working for local non profit agencies and individual clients adds to that amount. Making items for sale (hopefully) tops us up to break even.
The Men's Shed Vernon (MSV) Christmas Craft Challenge is one way to do that. More than 30 of our members have agreed to let their names be drawn from a hat to be randomly assigned to teams that will select, design, and build items to display and sell at the upcoming Vernon Presents Craft Fair, November 22 & 23, 2024.
The intent is also to foster mixing and friendship between guys who may not know one another as well as they might when they work on a project together. It is turning out to be good fun, and the Popo Shop is busier than usual in the summer as a result.
Stay tuned here for sneak peeks at our creativity, and please set aside some funds to help us meet our mission:
"We Build Meaning & Well Being Into Men's Lives By Engaging Hands, Hearts, & Minds."
